Independent Work Time
Small Group
When several students share a common need for reinforcement or enrichment of a specific skill or concept, a small group lesson may be the vehicle through which that need is addressed. These lessons, when needed, occur during independent work time.
Student/Teacher Conferences These conferences occur during independent work time and are used for a variety of purposes. Among them are the administration of individual assessments, individualized remediation & enrichment, and progress monitoring of goals.

Independent Work Time Work These are a variety of activities students complete during independent work time which provides supported practice and reinforcement of essential skills as well as opportunity to complete work which supports each student's Written Education Plan goals.
By completing this work at school, students have as much teacher support as needed as they apply what has been taught or build upon it. Most of this work is related to students' independent reading selections or writing, so it is individualized. Some of this work is graded. |
